Is it illegal to carry a survival knife for protection in Connecticut if you’re going for a walk or something?

I have a Fixed Blade survival knife with a 8 inch blade, and I feel better having it in a sheath if I’m going for a walk in the suburbs due to loose dogs and such. Under these circumstances am I allowed to carry one? It would seem unfair that I cannot have any protection in the outdoors. I am 24 by the way.
Alice: I actually think according to CT state laws the blade cannot be over 1 1/2 inches. I’m just trying to understand how I can legally defend myself against a wild animal.

You are fine if your blade is less than four inches long. If the blade is over four inches long, you must have a valid hunting or fishing license to carry it while hiking, camping, hunting, etc.

which states that a blade over 1 1/2 inches that has a spring release is illegal. You are talking about a fixed blade, and that may be up to 4 inches.

As I said, you must be actively engaged in a relevant sport or activity (historical re-enactment) in order to carry a longer fixed Blade Knife. You can’t just walk about your neighborhood with a croc knife.
